History

Our program was one of the first Med-Peds programs established around the country, and has been in existence for about 20 years now! Dr. Howard Schubiner, our former program director, is known nation wide as one of the “founding fathers” of Med-Peds, and Dr. Eric Ayers, our current program director, is the current president of the Med-Peds Program Directors Association. Wayne State University has produced more Med-Peds residents than any other medical school across the country. You can see that Med-Peds has a very rich history here at Wayne State University!
